Shift does not collect, store, or share any personal information from its players. This policy explains what that means in practice, including how our advertising and payment partners operate within the game.

Overview

Shift is a word game developed and published as a simple, self-contained puzzle experience. We built Shift so that you can play without creating an account, without signing in, and without handing over any personal data. We do not operate any servers that collect, log, or store information about you or your device.

Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect, and have no access to, any of the following:

  • Names, email addresses, or contact information
  • Location data
  • Photos, contacts, or device files
  • Account credentials or profile information
  • Gameplay data tied to your identity

Shift requires no account, sign-in, or personal information to play. The only optional exception is signing in with Google Play Games to save your progress in the cloud, described below. Shift has no analytics software of our own embedded in the game.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

Shift uses Google AdMob to display advertising within the app. AdMob is operated by Google and may collect and process certain data — such as advertising identifiers, device information, and general usage signals — in order to serve and measure ads, according to Google's own privacy practices.

We do not receive, view, or store any personal data collected by AdMob. Any data handling performed by AdMob is governed by Google's privacy policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy, and Google's advertising policies for children's apps at support.google.com/admob.

Where required, Shift configures AdMob to request only non-personalized, contextual advertising and to comply with Google's Families/Child-Directed Treatment settings so that ad serving is appropriate for a general and family audience.

Purchases (Google Play Billing & Amazon Appstore)

If Shift offers in-app purchases (such as removing ads or unlocking extra content), those purchases are processed entirely by the platform you downloaded the game from — either Google Play Billing or the Amazon Appstore in-app purchasing service.

We never see, receive, or store your payment details, billing address, or purchase history. All payment information is handled directly between you and Google or Amazon under their respective privacy and payment policies:

Shift only receives a confirmation that a purchase was completed so it can unlock the relevant feature on your device.

Google Play Games Sign-In (Optional Progress Saving)

Shift supports saving your game progress to the cloud using Google Play Games. This feature is entirely optional — you can play Shift fully without ever signing in, and your progress will simply be stored locally on your device as described below.

If you choose to use cloud progress saving, you must sign in with a Google Play Games account. Signing in is handled directly by Google Play Games Services, and any data associated with your account — such as your saved progress and Google account identifier — is managed by Google under its own privacy policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy. Shift does not receive, view, or store your Google account credentials.

Children's Privacy & COPPA Compliance

Shift is designed to be suitable for a general audience, including children, and we take compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) seriously.

  • Shift does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
  • Shift contains no chat, messaging, social features, or user generated content that could expose personal information.
  • Advertising served through AdMob is configured according to Google's Families Policy and child-directed treatment settings, limiting the use of personalized advertising and behavioral tracking where applicable.
  • No account creation, email address, or other identifying information is ever requested from any player.

If you believe a child has provided personal information through Shift, please contact us using the details below so we can investigate — though because Shift has no accounts or servers that collect data, this should not be possible in normal use.

Data Storage on Your Device

Shift may save gameplay progress, settings, or statistics locally on your own device using standard mobile storage features. This information stays on your device, is never transmitted to us, and is removed if you uninstall the app or clear its local data.

If you optionally sign in with Google Play Games, your progress is also saved to your Google Play Games account so it can sync across devices. That data is stored and managed by Google, not by us.

Third-Party Services

Shift integrates with the following third-party services, each of which operates under its own privacy policy and may collect data independently of Shift as described above:

  • Google AdMob (advertising)
  • Google Play Billing (in-app purchases on Android)
  • Amazon Appstore In-App Purchasing (in-app purchases on Amazon devices)
  • Google Play Games Services (optional cloud progress saving)

We encourage you to review each provider's privacy policy to understand how they handle data.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes — for example, if a future update to Shift adds a new feature that affects privacy — this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will reflect the change.
